In an amazing act of Advanced Citizenship, underdog New York City Republican mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa, talk show host and Founder of the Guardian Angels, declared “We need more compassion in politics, and we need to listen to each other more. That’s how we improve. Yesterday, I was holding a press conference by Penn Station when it was interrupted by a young man dealing with mental/emotional issues Here was my response…”, and shared a clip of himself masterfully diffusing a situation involving a homeless man struggling at a campaign event this week in a deeply moving video. In a follow-up tweet, Silwa wrote “I’m humbled by the reaction to the video of me & a man at Penn Station the other day. But I’ve been handling these issues for 4 decades b/c our City has failed these individuals time and time again. We need more compassion & better policies. That’s why I’m running for Mayor.” You can view Silva’s original tweet here, gander at the follow-up tweet here, check out Silwa’s campaign website here, and donate here.
