Signal – August 5, 2021 – No Ticky, No Laundry

In the footsteps of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signing legislation banning Confucius Institutes on college campuses, Republican Senators Tim Scott of South Carolina and Tom Cotton of Arkansas have introduced a new bill, The Foreign Funding Accountability Act (FFAA), in order increase transparency surrounding the money funneling into American universities from foreign countries. The legislation would require the disclosure of full names of foreign entities, disclosure of the specific purposes of foreign gift transactions, clarification that gifts to university foundations are not exempt from disclosure, and lower the current minimum reporting threshold for disclosure from $250,000 to $25,000.
