
Hoover Institution Senior Fellow and author of the upcoming book The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America, Victor Davis Hanson, reminds everyone that by 2018, Democratic representatives were in control of all 20 of the country’s wealthiest congressional districts, and that, in the recent presidential primaries and general election, 17 of the 20 wealthiest ZIP codes gave more money to Democratic candidates than to Republicans. Despite the fact that middle-class incomes have stagnated, family net worth has declined, student debt has hit almost two trillion dollars, and rising incomes are going to the already rich more than ever before, the Democrat party has all but removed “class” from their vocabulary. While the trend isn’t new, it is exacerbating, as some 65% of Americans making more than $500,000 a year are registered Democrats, and 74% of those who earn less than $100,000 a year are registered Republicans. Meanwhile, woke wealthy Democrats of all races, in an attempt to distract the public (especially their dwindling numbers of working-and-middle class White, Hispanic, and African-American voters) from income inequality, work overtime to signal their victimhood status from their ivory towers of globalization – corporate America, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, the media, universities, the entertainment industry, and professional sports.
